Located at 345 George Street, Sydney, an existing commercial building has been transformed into a practical and unique penthouse.

 

Client Brief

The clients share a common interest in nature and contemporary modern design.  Subtle and natural dark timbers were incorporated into an open plan space to form an uplifting environment and reflect the client's personality. With the brief in mind, the space focuses on the essential balance between nature and residential elements, transforming a space into a seamless arrangement of functionality and style. The client requested an open plan living with a large functional kitchen for entertaining. The layout will consist of an accessible indoor courtyard as a dominant feature, providing both aesthetics and illumination.

 

Concept

Heavily inspired by architect Graham Phillips, the focus of the design explores the connection between light and exposed spaces and how the measure of natural light and nature can form and express a space.
