Aged Care Project, Byron Bay

Ground Level Plan

Background / Location
The beach house is an existing dwelling located on the South Coast of New South Wales. Inspired by a location of the clients choosing, the brief was to reconstruct the existing project into a luxurious beach house with an additional independent aged care guest house. The existing rumpus room on ground level has been reconstructed into the aged care residence. The concept behind the overall design was to create a cool, calm and sophisticated coastal beach house heavily inspired by Byron Bay.
Client Brief
For the aged care guest house, the client requested a warm, welcoming and sustainable environment, incorporating vinyl floorings, practical textiles and calming hues suitable for aged care. The hues and shades of blue create a healing and welcoming environment for all users, which is beneficial to their mental health.
Concept
The concept design will promote sense of place and wellbeing through various natural materials and textures. A calming and nature-inspired colour palette flows throughout the space to stimulate the residents’ senses and deliver a space that would increase mental health. Using inspiration from the natural world, both spaces incorporate intriguing textures, patterns and quality finishes that reflect the client's nature and style.
